About the role

About the Role

Romega Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a client in the advanced materials and semiconductor industry.

Our client is a growth-stage technology company developing advanced semiconductor materials and specialized equipment for high-performance electronics, thermal management, and space-related applications.

We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 3D CAD expertise in CATIA or Creo to design and develop high-temperature reactors, furnaces, and induction-heated systems used in advanced materials processing. This is an opportunity to work on complex engineering hardware supporting semiconductor manufacturing, crystal growth, and emerging space-related programs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead 3D mechanical design of crystal-growth reactors, annealing systems, furnaces, and related equipment using CATIA or Creo.

  • Develop detailed assemblies, production drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and GD&T-toleranced designs.

  • Take designs from concept through manufacturing, collaborating with machine shops and fabrication vendors.

  • Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to improve performance, cost, and production efficiency.

  • Support design and development of high-temperature systems for aluminum nitride (AlN) crystal growth and aluminum oxynitride (AlON) coating processes.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve existing reactor designs, and enhance production performance.

  • Contribute to advanced hardware development for space-related applications, considering launch loads, vibration, thermal cycling, and flight safety requirements.

  • Use thermal simulation or CFD tools where applicable to validate designs and guide engineering improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Approximately 7–10 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with more experienced candidates encouraged to apply.

  • Strong 3D CAD proficiency in CATIA or Creo (Pro/ENGINEER). This is the primary technical requirement.

  • Proven experience taking mechanical designs from concept through detailed drawings, release, fabrication, and validation.

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance stack-up analysis, DFM, and DFA.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; an advanced degree is a plus.

  • Experience with high-temperature processing equipment, vacuum systems, crystal growth, semiconductor materials, sintering, hot pressing, or thin-film deposition is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with thermal simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL is an advantage.

  • Experience with space vehicles, flight hardware, launch qualification, or space-environment requirements is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel regularly to Wichita, Kansas, and occasionally to customer and partner sites.

Role Details

  • Experience: Approximately 7–10 years; more experienced candidates are welcome.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Work authorization: U.S. citizens or permanent residents only.

  • Work arrangement: Remote within the United States, with regular onsite collaboration in Wichita.

Compensation & Opportunity

  • Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience.

  • Equity: Meaningful equity participation.

  • Engineering impact: Work on advanced materials processing equipment supporting semiconductor, commercial, government, and space-related applications.
